anyone who has played with these super high definition panoramic photographs will eventually have realised what a massive privacy threat they represent. MUCH more so, for example, than Google’s Street View. I have peered into peoples living rooms and kitchens from a distance of more than a mile. I can’t, for example, imagine how anyone can now risk – say – nude sunbathing on their roof or in what they thought was their secluded garden. These cameras pick up extraordinary detail from serious distance – too far away for the average punter ever to be aware of.

And the paranoia is probably justified in any case, by the growing power of the satellite cameras. The US spy satellites can almost certainly take real time images good enough for identification purposes.

I think we’re all going to have to move underground…
